Why do people follow the crowd? Why do you think people readily believe propaganda?

People follow the crowd because they think it's the right thing to do and are probably scared to do something different because they'd be judged or outcasts. I think they believe propaganda because it's convincing and everyone else is listening and it's being advertised everywhere so everyone sees it
