The Northern Ireland Civil Rights Movement emerged to challenge inequality and discrimination happening in Northern Ireland. It dates from 1967-1972. An organization was formed in 1967 namely the Northern Ireland Civil Rights Association (NICRA) to protest against discrimination. The purpose of this organization was to protect the basic freedom rights of all citizens, to tell the public about their lawful rights, to demand freedom of speech, assembly, and association, etc.

Josephine Bernadette McAliskey was born on 23 April 1947. She was a radical feminist activist, an Irish Civil rights leader and founder of People's Democracy (a college-based civil rights movement). A survivor of the "Bloody Sunday" In 1969, she wrote an autobiography "The Price Of My Soul." In her autobiography, she tells of the conditions during the civil rights movement, the incidence of the bloody Sunday. It is an incredible story of fight for justice and freedom.

The letter from Birmingham Jail was written by Martin Luther King Jr. on April 16, 1963. Written during the 1963 Birmingham Campaign, this letter became important during the American Civil rights Movement. The letter was written in response to criticism made by the "A Call for Unity" clergymen. According to them the battle against racism should be fought in the courts and not on the streets. King in response to this criticism wrote this letter. King declares that African Americans had waited for God-given constitutions long enough and also quoted Earl Warren's statement who in 1958 said that "justice too long delayed is justice denied" King asks people to fight for their rights and not wait for it to happen.
