That Idek was extremely agressive and as violent as lightening. Idek could do to a human body what lightening could do to a tree. The figure of speech is simile. The author has written " ... like / as lightening ... " A simile is generally introduced with 'like or as'. The writer is describing the hatred Idek felt towards the Jews.
