The Turkish flag is composed of a red field being its back ground with a white star and a crescent beside each other. It was believed that the star and the crescent are both Muslim symbols considering from the time that the people in Turkey captured the Anatolian Peninsula. The moon is believed to honor the Goddess of moon and the star as the emblem of the Virgin Mary. Though, the flag is initially made of green but currently the red field and the moon and crescent is the current flag.
