Coatis are raccoon-like mammals native to South and Central America. Although they are wild animals, coatis are often fed by tourists. This encourages recurring behavior with unfortunate consequences: Many people have been injured in coati encounters and have needed to get shots to ward off the risk of rabies, while coatis have grown obese.
