O Captain! My Captain! Considering the events occurring at the time this poem was written, how does the author use the captain, the ship, and the journey as symbols to develop the theme of the poem? Use specific evidence from the text to support your answer.

    The ship is sought that has weather in every rack, the prize we sought is won, the port is what is near but the bells is what I hear and the people all exulting the fellow eyes that are steady and steel and the vessel grim has appeals daring. So basically in the first line that the captain is being used to symbolize the union of a leader that's in the civil war. It also brings the feelings of happiness, but in a different way. Although they have the same meaning of joy which clearly have different sounds.
