Why does each successive edition of the newspeak dictionary have fewer words than the one before it?

    The reason why the Newspeak have gotten smaller every edition is because the Big Brother and Ingsoc administered an active and ongoing revision of the language. "The party" who ruled Oceania was named after Ingsoc and Newspeak meant English Socialism.
