A roast speech is a type of speech that elicits fun at the honoree. These are often done during birthdays, retirement parties or even funerals. A person with a good sense of humour is actually insulted but not intentionally. Its only purpose is to lighten the mood and poke some jokes. These should still be uttered in a respectful manner - avoid painful memories and insults. You can check Dean Martin and Don Rickles on YouTube and learn from their videos. They are pros at roasting.
