While the statement "Jealousy has become a main ingredient of success" may stand true in some cases, the poem "The Frog and the Nightingale" reminds the reader that this is not always the case. The Frog in the poem is jealous of the applause and attention that the Nightingale receives, and so he seeks to tear her down. He - quite literally - takes away her voice, and ultimately kills her. This does not only strip away her own success, but it does not build his up at all. Even after getting rid of the Nightingale, the Frog still cannot sing, and is not well-received by the other animals. Therefore, it is arguable that jealousy is a hinderance, rather than an ingredient, to success.
