The Smile book is an autobiography written by Raina Telgemeier. It provides some of the authors stories from sixth grade to high school. It is called Smile because in the story she trips and and injures her two front teeth. Because of this she has a wild ride by having braces, surgery, headgear, and a retainer with fake teeth.

The story starts off when Raina is 11 years old in the 6th grade and takes us on a 4 year journey. While racing home with her friends one day after girl scouts, raina trips and knocks out her two front teeth. This begins the long journey of raina trynna fix her mouth and many other things along the way.
