If you were writing a story about a young man named Jeremy trying to improve his physical fitness, which sentence would most likely be the first event in that story? A) Jeremy looked at the mirror before his shower and didn't like what he saw. Eliminate B) Grunting ferociously, Jeremy attempted to do a few pull-ups for the first time. C) Jeremy looked at the scale and smiled with the satisfaction when he saw the number. D) Jeremy sat down and looked over his progress with his weight training for the week.

    A. Jeremy is trying to / improve / his physical fitness, so he wouldn't like what he sees on a scale, like it says in answer C. It also wouldn't be B, because that would not be a good first event. We need backstory to why he is trying to improve, not just to see Jeremy jump right on in and do a few push-ups - that would be a good second or third event. D doesn't work either because in order to look over his progress for the week means he had been already doing this for a week. The answer is A.
