    C. fears she too will become an outsider if we befriends Myra.

Throughout the story, Helen (The Narrator) notices everything about Myra. Helen wants to be friends with Myra but she knows that she can't because Myra is an outcast in her class. Myra is treated differently and Helen on the other hand, feels somewhat confused of what she should do. She wants to be friends with her but she's too afraid to face the consequences. She fears that she too will be treated bad just like how Myra is being treated. Therefore the narrator goes through an internal conflict with herself.
