The current and 15th president of the Philippines is Benigno Simeon Aquino, commonly know as "Noynoy" and incidentally "PNoy" after his assumption into office.

Aquino comes from a family of politicians starting from his great grandfather. His mother, Corazon Aquino served as the 11th president of the Philippines and his father, Benigno Aquino II held several offices. Both of his parents were famous for events: his father’s assassination said to have been ordered by Ferninand Marcos, who was the 10th and current president at the time of his death, and his mother inciting a revolution to overthrow the tyrant rule of the Martial Law.

After the death of Corazon Aquino in 2009, his popularity surged and many supporters of the family had encouraged his to run for president for the 2010 elections. It was a month after that he had heeded the call. His term ends in the year 2016 and has endorsed Mar Roxas, who had run as his vice president in the previous election, to be his standard bearer of the Liberal Party.
