If I were describing my favourite food and used compound adjectives, I would use hyphens. For example:

    water-mouthing ice-cream freshly-baked cake heart-shaped cookies soft-melting cheese

The underlined words are compound adjectives because, although they have two words, they are considered as one - word adjective. This is the reason why a hypen (-) is used between the two words; it is to indicate that the word is just one.
