If the temperature today is 7 degrees Celsius, and yesterday it was 13 degrees Celsius cooler, what was the temperature yesterday?

    Explanation:

    When you do 7-13 you end it up going lower than 0, negative numbers. So just switch the two numbers and you end up with 13-7 which equals 6. Since you went below 0 you have to put the negative sign (-) in front of the 6. So now you have - 6.
