    The greater part or most of something This expression alludes to Aesop's fable about a lion, who got all of a kill because its fellow hunters, a fox, and wolf, were afraid to claim their share.

    The moral of this story is not to trust partnerships with those much more powerful than oneself. However, even more enduring than this moral is the idiom itself. A lion's share means the biggest portion since the lion in the story took more than all the other animal
