IT makes you feel like she has a better chance because she grew up in district 12 which was surrounded by forests. Starting at a young age, Katniss and her friend Gale would sneak into the forests and hunt for animals which made us believe that katniss knows how to kill and use weapons. It also made us believe that she had experience in the wilderness so she would be able to withstand the problem of nature.

Katiniss had lived in district 12, the surrounding area is forested. She regularly leaves district 12 to go hunting. Because of this, she has a lot of experience in the woods and understands how to hunt and survive there. The setting of the Hunger Games is also in a forest. Because of that, she has a better chance at surviving.
