David and Goliath are the two men who fight for their people.

That is the reason the author compare Owens's story to the tale of David and Goliath.

    Explanation:

Author suggests in the story that war is won not only by strength but also by strategy and planning. David and Goliath fight for their people. David is the hero of Israelites. Goliath is a brave soldier who had huge body and height. He was considered champion of the Philistine army.

David was a brave king and also a passionate musician and poet. He was the one God has chosen to rule Israel. Even though he did not have a strong body like Goliath, he won the battle because of his strategy and planning. So, author compares Owen' story to show how two characters can be different and yet who wins at the end.
