Compare the Safe Water Drinking Act and the Clean Water Act.

The Safe Water Drinking Act is about setting drinking water standards and how water should be treated in water plants before it is allowed for consumption. The only water that is not monitored under this act is water from a personal well and water that is bottled, since the standards of bottled water are regulated by the food and drugs administration and different rules apply for that. The safe water drinking act is applied in over 150 000 public water systems and encompasses all states.

The Clean Water Act deals with prevention of pollution of all water sources, including natural ones. It also deals with wastewater regulation and also deals with protecting the chemical, physical, and biological integrity of all waters in the United States, including things like rivers, lakes, wetlands, and all types of bodies of water that belong to the nation. Somewhere in the middle, the two acts are connected when their domains intertwine.
