    Romeo was upset after being exiled. He wanted to remain with Ju. liet but had to leave early in the morning when the lark started singing. As he told her goodbye, he was pale and she noticed that he looked different. As he climbed down the trellis, he prayed they would be reunited soon.

    The state of his mind upon hearing of her death is clearly shown. He goes to buy poison so that he can drink it and die beside her. He did not know at the time she had taken a sleeping potion so she could escape and be with him forever.
