I believe the correct answer is - She was born in London, England, in 1882.

Due to her being born at this time, she, as a woman, didn't have many opportunities to pursue a career of her choosing. Therefore, she wrote this rather feminist essay in which she ponders on the position of women in a man-dominated society which prevented women from achieving their own goals.
