My answer:

If my grandmother was on her death bed and she asked me the prompted question, I would choose to hear the good news. Often when you think back to loved ones that passed away, you first remember your last memories with them alive. These memories will either haunt you or comfort you as you grieve depending on the kind of interactions you had. I don't want the last memory I'd have with my grandmother to be an unhappy one. I'd want to hear the good news so after her passing I could look back on the interaction and be reminded of good things rather than just her death. (This is also the same reason I don't believe in funerals.)
