b. so they will sleep through King Duncan’s murder

Lady Macbeth needs them to be asleep through the murder and wake up with fuzzy memories because then she and Macbeth will be able to frame them for the murder. While they're asleep she smeared their hands and faces with blood and put the daggers in their hands so it looked like they committed the crime.
