The main conflict in these sentences can be identified as man vs. man.

    Explanation:

A conflict in literature is an element that involves the struggle between two opposing forces. Conflicts are what makes a story interesting, and they are always, directly or indirectly, connected to the main characters. In literature, there are six common types of conflict:

    - Man vs Man

    - Man vs Self

    - Man vs Nature

    - Man vs Society

    - Man vs Fate

    - Man vs Technology

In the lines we are analyzing here, the type of conflict is man vs man. This type of conflict is characterized by characters taking opposite sides, having different interests, which leads them to clash. The speaker in the excerpt has a direct conflict with Nora. He does not want to eat dinner; she is trying to force him. He ends up using a bread-knife to defend himself. The fight happens between two characters and, in this case, is a literal fight. But man vs man can also have opposition without a physical fight.
