    Smiths text is the history of Virginia. Smith sought after new economic opportunities. While searching for resources Smith and his men are supposedly attacked by Indians. The Indians kill the men that Smith was accompanied by during his quest. The Indians spare Smith's life in exchange for his compass. The Indian leader Powhatan wants Smith killed, but his daughter Pocahontas saves Smith. Smith's text is portrayed as a love story by some, while others believe it is white men stealing property and another cultures women.
