Miss Maudie supports Atticus and believes he did the right thing for Tom Robinson.

    Explanation:

Miss Maudie did not show up for the trial, unlike majority of prejudiced citizens of Maycomb. Although she refuses to gossip about the case, with the outcome of Tom being shot while trying to escape, she is disgusted by the folks living in Maycomb who would support such a thing. When she hears of Tom's death, she is deeply saddened and sorry for both Tom and Atticus, who made every effort he could on Tom's behalf.
