Gatsby wants to have Nicks lawn mowed because Daisy is coming over and he is coming to meet her. Or could also want the house's apearance to look nice adding the flowers and food he orders inside the house.

Gatsby wants to have Nick's lawn cut in repayment for agreeing to ask Daisy over. He also may be a little embarrassed about the way it looks ... Gatsby is about to leave because he is nervous and he does not think she is going to come
