Marie and Tanya stood side by side in the cramped

airplane as they waited to start their first skydiving

experience

Marie was already strapped in, but the panicked look on

her face said she was not ready. Tanya grabbed her hands.

"You can do this,' Tanya said. She stared into Marie's eyes.

"Just look at me. Don't look out there. You're completely

safe. You're brave. I'll be right behind you." She gave

Marie's hand one last squeeze, and then Marie shut her

eyes and jumped out backward with her partner.
