Some female characters in the book don't seem to fit the mold according to Okonkwo's view? Who are they and why are they important to the text?

    There are some women who do not fit into the mold according to Okonkwo.

    Explanation:

    In the story 'Things Fall apart' by Chinua Achebe, is set during colonization. Okonkwo had three wives as polygamy existed during that time in Igbo society. Igbo society was a male dominated one. He was a mean and rude man who believed women to be weak, emotional and dependent them. He even oppressed his wife, was violent towards them.

    The strongest woman in his life was his daughter Ezinma. She was strong, brave and had opinion. Women in the society are also seen quite involved in the religious matters. So, Chielo who is a religious woman and with his power she could even threaten Okonkwo. Ani who was believed to be Goddess of earth was honored and respected as she would would benefit the society with plenty of harvests.

    Therefore, these women are important of the story.
