Read the passage.

The flags were flying as I accompanied Captain Carmela Langston onto the deck of the Horizon. Everyone stood quietly at attention waiting for her to speak. She seemed slightly nervous facing her crew for the first time. Then she began speaking and after a few minutes, the familiar task of setting out on a mission erased any trace of anxiety. The crew reacted well. I knew they would soon find her to be more than competent and fair.

From whose perspective is the passage most likely written?

A.) from the perspective of a child

B.) from Captain Carmela Langston

C.) from the perspective of Captain Langston's crew chief

D.) from the perspective of a crew member
