Were all occupational names given literally the occupation of the person given the name?

    Not all occupational names were given literally. For example, Farmer did not mean he worked on a farm with crops, it actually meant he was a tax collector. Also, the name Banker meant "dweller on a hillside" instead of what you probably thought it meant.
