What is the tone of the poem?

What types of figurative language was used?

"Hope" is the Thing with Feathers

"Hope" is the thing with feathers

That perches in the soul

And sings the tune without the words

And never stops at all,

And sweetest in the gale is heard;

And sore must be the storm

That could abash the little bird

That kept so many warm.

I've heard it in the chillest land

And on the strangest sea,

Yet never, in extremity,

It asked a crumb of me

    From the given poem above, the tone of the poem has a mellow poem. The figurative languages that are used in this poem are: Metaphor, Personification, Alliteration and symbolism. Metaphor, because hope is being indirectly compared to feathers. Personification, because the word "hope" is given the attributions of humans. Symbolism because some of the words used to mean something that is related to it.
