In "How to eat an Ice-Cream cone", why does the author caution against letting the cashier hand you other people's cones?

    Because you may drop one or more of the ice cream cones

    because when you are given many cones you may drop one or more. It is not A, because you can pay the bill with many cones. It is hard but not impossible. It i not B. because the rule once you decided one flavor you can't chance unless you want to get in trouble, It is no D. because not only children eat ice cream.
