Javier was an average student, but he enjoyed learning. He often thought he would be a better student if he didn't have to put up with the petty drama of his girlfriend, Monica. But there never seemed to be a good time to end things with her. And besides, you weren't anyone at East Midlands High School if you didn't have a girlfriend. What element of plot is this passage an example of? A. Exposition B. Climax C. Conclusion D. Dénouement

The answer is exposition because this sounds like the beginning of a story, it doesn't have something crazy in it so it's not a climax. It's not the end of the story because that wouldn't make sense and it wouldn't make sense for a denouncement either.
