    dimes-3

    nickels-15

    pennies-5

    Explanation: let the number of penny (p) = x

    Therefore,

    Nickels which is 3 times as many as pennies;

    Nickel (n) = 3x

    Dimes is 2 less than pennies

    Dime (d) = x - 2

    Total worth of dimes, nickel and pennies = $1.10

    Using the relation:

    1 dime is worth 10 cent

    1 penny worth 1 cent

    1 nickel worth 5 cent

    10d + 5n + p

    Mathematically,

    $1.10 = 110 cent

    10d + 5n + p = 110

    Substituting the value of p, n and d into the relation

    10 (x-2) + 5 (3x) + x = 110

    10x - 20 + 15x + x = 110

    26x - 20 = 110

    26x = 130

    x = 5

    Therefore,

    x = penny = 5

    x - 2 = dime = 5-2 = 3

    3x = nickel = 3*5 = 15
