Why are classical allegories not regarded as realistic fiction?

They are deeply complicated stories that focus on the psyche of their protagonists.

Their characters are generally flat and merely function as symbols for particular concepts.

They are logical and conceptual, resulting in themes that can be difficult to understand.

They often idealize country life while denouncing the city as corrupt and insignificant.

They deal with issues that plague society on a daily basis and that ordinary people can relate to.

I would say that classical allegories are not regarded as realistic fiction either because their characters are generally flat and merely function as symbols for particular concepts or they often idealize country life while denouncing the city as corrupt and insignificant.

You pick, it's either of the two, I'm not sure which one.
