What is most likely reason Shirley chisholm decided to pursue a career in politics?

I would say it is because of several reasons, including being black and being a woman and also because of seeing what a hard time her father and mother had to make a living when they emigrated to the US from Barbados. So I think she was motivated to fight for equality of women and black people in the US and also to make the lives of the poor people in the US better.
