"At this there was a terrible baying sound outside, and nine enormous dogs wearing brass-studded collars came bounding into the barn. They dashed straight for Snowball, who only sprang from his place just in time to escape their snapping jaws."

    I think that it could be either Bouncing into the barn or nine enormous dogs, because it mainly talk about the dog.

    Explanation: Just to elaborate a little on the answer, it can be added that an ominous scene is suggestive of an unpleasant event that is about to happen.
