Buyers are offered the possibility of making a small partial payment instead of paying in full for what they have already charged. This so-called privilege costs money, though. People have to pay high interest on the amount they postpone paying.

This passage does a good job describing the way that credit cards work and mentioning the fact that many people don't actually know this. It's a good resource for someone thinking about getting a credit card if they're not completely prepared for the challenges it presents.
