    The monster is powered by electricity. This answer makes it really logical and easy to connect the monster and the Industrial Revolution. Electricity played an important role in the process of Industrial Revolution. And Mary Shelley's Frankenstein shows people's fear of technology back then that she created this character amidst the times of the progress.
