Will we stroll dreaming of the lost America of love past blue automobiles in driveways, home to our silent cottage? In this stanza, the speaker wishes he owned a blue vehicle like his neighbors. he was back in his quiet home away from the market. Whitman was still alive to keep him company. America could be like it was when Whitman was alive.

    Ginsberg as someone who promotes diversity chose Walt Whitman as a hero and guide because he is a poet of everything and loves diversity like himself. (In the 50's, America is like Ozzie and Harriet: middle class, white, hard-working, etc. which was all about conforming to a certain standards, while Ginsberg was all about diversity).

    He hopes for the creation of America big enough for individuality rather than the too much conformity currently obtainable (Like American citizens should not worry about making money, but instead, they should worry about being themselves or people try to have a different sexual oreintation in an era that was uptight about sexuality).
