    A connotation is the perception by the reader or listener (emotional orotherwise) that can be evoked by the use of specific words. A neutralconnotation is one that has neither positive nor negative inferences. Example: both "woman" and "chick" have the denotation "adult female" in North Americansociety, but "chick" has somewhat negative connotations, while "woman" isneutral. like "smell" not Auroma or stank or stench. because the other onesare not a neutral connotiation.
