The CROWN (Create a Respectful and Open Workplace for Natural Hair) is a law passed in California. It forbids any kind of discrimination based on hair. As California is the first state to prohibit this kind of discrimination, its advocates claim that this law is necessary, as women with curly hair are often discriminated against.

It could be argued that all U. S. states should pass this law. Unfortunately, discrimination is present on all society levels - regardless of whether it is racial, gender or hairstyle discrimination. Although this kind of law might seem absurd to some people, the fact is that any law that could prevent further discrimination should be passed. At least, passing this law would shed light on the problem that people with unusual hairstyles face on a daily basis.
