In the story Little Women, one family brings breakfast to another on Christmas morning. Read this passage and then answer the question that follows: A poor, bare, miserable room it was, with broken windows, no fire, ragged bedclothes, a sick mother, wailing baby, and a group of pale, hungry children cuddled under one old quilt, trying to keep warm. How the big eyes stared and the blue lips smiled as the girls went in. "Ach, mein Gott! It is good angels come to us!" said the poor woman, crying for joy. What implicit meaning can you find about the sick woman and her children from this text? The mother did not know how to start a fire. The mother's illness made her children hate her. The mother was unable to provide for their needs. The mother and children lived in an abandoned building.

What you can implicit from this text feature is that the mother was very poor and the children were very hungry and there was no possible way for the poor mother to feed her hungry children even if she wanted to. You can also tell they live somewhere that isn't very stealthy and has no heating, also that it is in Winter seeing as though all her kids, including her were all huddled underneath a blanket to keep warm.
