How does the complicating incident in Act I of A Midsummer Night's Dream affect the plot?

A. Lysander and Hermia decide to run away, which brings the four lovers and the fairies together in the woods.

B. Oberon decides to put a spell on Titania, which causes her to fall in love with Bottom.

C. Theseus tells Hermia she must marry Demetrius or die, so Hermia asks her friend Helena to hide her from Theseus. D. Hippolyta agrees to marry Theseus, so all the characters must come together in the same place.

    Lysander and Hermia plan to run away, and Helena tells Demetrius, thinking that it will make him love her again. He goes into the woods to follow Hermia and Helena goes into the woods to follow Demetrius. This brings them all together where the fairies are.
