    It is easy to choose the examples of foreshadowing like the boys gather pebbles at the beginning of the story and also the people were speaking softly which does not show any excitement of a lottery draw. The setting of the story is not mentioned, the name of the town and state is not given. This is because the narrator wanted the readers to understand that it could happen in any town. In the end the people of the village stone Tessie Hutchinson to death, which is very surprising. The people in the village were sticking to their own outdated tradition, rules and practices.
