Read the excerpt from "The Mâori: Genealogies and Origins in New Zealand" and answer the question that follows.

We were the elements of nature, but there was not yet any world for us to live in. Tu was the oldest brother and the god of war; his descendents became the Maori people. Tane was the god of forests and birds. Tangora was the god of the sea. Rongo was the god of cultivated food and the harvest, and Haumia was the god of wild food.

And then there was me, Tawhiri, the god of weather, wind, lightning, and storms. I do not get along with my brothers, and it all started back when the world was dark.
