The binding properties of the material as it soaks and gives up water and its ability to grow stronger with higher temperature.

    Explanation:

The clay is the most common element available to a potter yet is the most important part of the work. There was no way for ceramics to have appeared early in human civilization if the clay had not been a perfect agent for such work to be carried out.

This is due to some innate properties of clay:

    1. it makes for a good binding material and binds with other clay particles.

    2. it is easily malleable and can be worked on again and again without losing any agility.

    3. it can soak water and can also dry to soak it all out.

    4. it hardens in high temperature but does not break easily. This makes the end product durable
