Harriet Tubman was one woman who is credited to freeing many slaves, perhaps, as figures suggest, about 300 slaves. She was a slave on a plantation. It was through fear that she thought that she and other slaves might be sold to cruel owners. She therefore embarked on a dangerous journey on foot.
