Back then, these individuals had no rights and were treated like absolute trash, far less than human. These individuals would drop off their children in institutions that had disgusting living conditions (e. g ... Willowbrook Institution) or just leave them out on the streets to fend for themselves. However, in today's perspective, these individuals have more rights than they did back then.
